A 1,500 AZN holiday from Baku: Sharm, Istanbul or Tbilisi?

Around 1,500 AZN, three very different holidays from Baku: sea, city, food. What moves the price, who each trip suits and what entry requires.

Checked: 28.09.2026

A budget of around 1,500 AZN per person can turn into three completely different holidays from Baku: 6–8 nights by the sea in Sharm El Sheikh, 3–5 nights of city and shopping in Istanbul, or a 2–4 night food weekend in Tbilisi. The real question isn't "where is cheapest?" but "how do I want to rest?"

Same budget. Totally different vibe.

One note before we start: 1,500 AZN here is an orientation, not a price. On some dates it's comfortable; around holidays and in peak season it gets tight. At Momento Travel, a travel agency in Baku, the manager calculates the exact price for the dates you choose and lays the options side by side.

What actually moves the price of a holiday?

Factor Why it matters
Season Peak months and school holidays push up both flights and hotels
Flight Direct or with a connection, departure time, how early you book
Nights Every night adds hotel cost, while the flight stays the same
Hotel class and location 4* or 5*, city centre or outskirts
Meal plan Breakfast only or all-inclusive
Weekends and holidays Thursday and Friday departures, Novruz, New Year, bayram days
People per room Per-person prices usually assume two sharing; travelling solo costs more

Who is Sharm El Sheikh for?

Who it suits: anyone who wants to actually switch off — sea, pool, sun lounger, no schedule. Couples, friends, families.

Sensible length: 6–8 nights. The flight takes a few hours, so a very short trip isn't worth the journey.

What the budget has to cover: flights, a hotel with a meal plan (many choose all-inclusive here), airport transfers, the visa and insurance. On top: excursions such as a boat trip to the reef, tips, spa.

When: the hot season runs roughly from late May to late September, with average highs above 32°C; August is the hottest month at around 34°C. From December to mid-March daytime highs stay below 24°C. The sea is warmest in August (about 28°C) and coolest in February (about 22°C). For October and November numbers, see choose your holiday by the weather.

Entry: citizens of Azerbaijan need a visa. Azerbaijan is on the list of countries eligible for Egypt's official e-Visa; on 28 September 2026 the portal listed USD 30 for a single-entry tourist e-visa. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from arrival; keep the e-visa printout and your hotel booking with you. You may hear about a free "Sinai only" stamp — Egypt gives it to citizens of some countries for short stays in South Sinai resorts. Because these rules change, we don't build a trip around it: the manager checks the current rule for your dates.

Who is Istanbul for?

Who it suits: city lovers, shoppers, a first trip together, a group of friends.

Sensible length: 3–5 nights.

What the budget has to cover: flights, a hotel (usually with breakfast), transfers. On top: shopping — the biggest variable, so give it a budget of its own — plus food, museums and a boat on the Bosphorus.

Tip: in Istanbul, location beats stars. A 4* hotel in a walkable neighbourhood can serve you better than a 5* far away — you save both time and taxi fares.

Entry: no visa for citizens of Azerbaijan — up to 90 days in any 180-day period. On direct trips between Azerbaijan and Türkiye you can also travel with a biometric ID card (since 1 April 2021); the document must be valid for at least 30 days from entry. If your route goes through a third country, you need a passport. More visa-free options: where to go without a visa this autumn.

Who is Tbilisi for?

Who it suits: groups of friends, couples who want a quick escape, anyone who travels for food.

Sensible length: 2–4 nights — made for a long weekend.

What the budget has to cover: flights, hotel, transfers, insurance. On top: restaurants (the heart of this trip), wine, a day trip to Mtskheta or Kazbegi.

Tip: on a short trip the flight takes a bigger share of the total, so the departure day matters — Thursday evening versus Saturday morning can make a real difference.

Entry: no visa needed for a tourist trip. New since 1 January 2026: every tourist entering Georgia must hold health and accident insurance for the whole stay, arrival and departure days included. Minimum cover is 30,000 GEL; the policy can be paper or electronic, in Georgian or English. The manager can add a policy that meets this rule. A ready three-day plan and the train timetable: a Tbilisi weekend.

What can you change if the budget is tight?

You tell us the budget, the dates and the vibe you want. The manager compares options within that frame and gives you the exact price for your dates. If the budget is tight, we show what's worth changing: shift the dates by a few days, drop a night, change the hotel class or the meal plan.

Tell us your budget and your mood — Momento will find the trip that fits both.
